Universal Motorcycle Exhaust Buying Guide: Diameter, DB Killer and Fitment

A universal motorcycle exhaust can be a good option for custom projects, but “universal” never means automatic fitment. You still need to check diameter, mounting points, clearance, sound level and road-use rules.

Measure Before Buying

• Inlet diameter.
• Outlet or link pipe diameter.
• Canister length and available clearance.
• Bracket location.
• Space near swingarm, tyre and passenger footpeg.

DB Killer and Sound

A DB killer can reduce sound level, but it does not automatically make an exhaust legal. Always check whether the exhaust is type approved for your country and vehicle.

Fitment Advice

Use correct clamps, springs and gaskets. After the first heat cycle, recheck all fasteners. If the exhaust touches bodywork or sits under tension, stop and correct the installation.
